For thousands of years, the night sky and its
billions of shining stars mystified ancient peoples from all around the
world, inspiring the creation of legends about the shapes they saw in the
sky. Ancient peoples looked to Polaris, the North Star, for direction and
stability, while the movement of constellations heralded the changing of
the seasons.
The Manitoba Museum’s innovative fundraising initiative Say It With
A Star invites you to capture some of the wonder of the universe with a
star of your own.
Purchase a star as a unique gift for that special someone, as a memoriam,
or in your own name. Our ‘Galaxy of Stars’ Donor Wall featuring
all 88 constellations is prominently mounted in the Planetarium Concourse,
where the name you designate will appear adjacent to the star of your choice.
Sorry, the Sun and Moon are not for sale! In addition, all recipients receive
a Star Certificate in recognition of their support of the Planetarium. |
