The Manitoba Museum, the province's largest
heritage centre, is renowned for its combined human and
natural heritage themes and vivid portrayal of Manitoba's
rich and colourful history. The Museum shares knowledge
about Manitoba, the world and the universe through its
heritage collections; interpretive galleries; exhibitions;
publications; on-site and outreach programs; live, interactive
Planetarium shows and hands-on Science Gallery exhibits.

The Museum's collections reflect the heritage of Manitoba
and other regions of the world, and eight interpretive
galleries explore the interrelationship of people and
their environment. Travel through millions of years as
you journey from north to south across Manitoba's vast
and varied landscape from the icy arctic coast to the
windswept prairies.
The Museum is noted for its three-dimensional walk-through
galleries. Highlights include the full-sized, 15-metre,
17th century replica ketch Nonsuch and the Hudson's
Bay Company Gallery showcasing one of the world's most
significant heritage collections and the remarkable history
and spirit of the Canada's fur trade.
The Planetarium, features live interactive multimedia
shows that recreate the current night sky, highlight the
latest space discoveries, and follow the developments
of the global space program. From imagination-powered
animated children's shows to feature presentations that
satisfy the astronomy buff, the Planetarium reveals the
wonders of the universe to amateur astronomers of all
ages.
Touch the universe with more than 100 entertaining hands-on
exhibits in the Science Gallery. Push the limits of your
imagination, put your senses to the test and explore science,
technology and the world around you in an exciting, high-energy
environment.
The Manitoba Museum is the recipient of many recent awards
and designations including the Michelin Green Guide top
rating 'Worth the Trip, the Province of Manitoba's
Tourism Service Excellence Award, the Attractions Canada
Prix Award (provincial) for indoor attractions, and the
Canadian Tourism Commission's 'Win with Winter in Canada'
Award for the 'Great Canadian Fur Trade' behind-the-scenes
