The
Parklands/Mixed Woods region of Manitoba, the transition
zone between the Boreal Forest to the north and the
Grasslands plains to the south, will complete the journey
through the province as presented in the Museum Galleries.
Marked by diversity, change and opportunity, Manitoba's
heartland is home to a larger variety of life and landscapes
than any other area of the province.
The sweeping panorama of the Ukrainian Rye Farm and
Marsh Dioramas, as seen in the virtual tour, combines
the work of architects, designers, exhibit artists,
production staff and curators. This spectacular setting,
complete with a 27-metre long wrap-around painted mural,
is one of the many dramatic scenes to be discovered
in the 10,000 sq. ft (930 sq.metre) Gallery. The Gallery
also features a unique saltsprings environment, a limestone
cave housing hundreds of handmand hibernating bats,
masses of lifelike red-garter snakes writhing in a Narcisse
area limestone sinkhole, fishing area, and programming
areas for visitors and school groups.
